The Accidental Witness: The Bombing over Hiroshima
WW II oral historian Ken Samuelson will tell how he and Asheboro native John McGlohon proved McGlohon’s reconnaissance aircraft, the Shutterbug, was in harm’s way over Hiroshima by accident of miscommunication on August 6th, 1945. 10 minutes earlier over Hiroshima, and Mr. McGlohon and the crew on the plane would have been history due to radiation or blast damage. This incredible story is not in the history books but you can hear it at the Asheboro Public Library on Thursday, August 10th at 6:30 pm.
