Red Sky
Using poems from the anthology Red Sky: Poetry on the global epidemic of violence against women we will discuss how we talk and write about abuse, how violence begets violence, how families and whole communities are affected by this violence, and how breaking the silence is the first step towards safety and healing. Red Sky contains over one hundred poems of a diverse swath of poets from all over the globe, and includes poems from established and award-winning poets as well as emerging voices. We will offer a writing opportunity appropriate for all levels led by poets Melissa Hassard, managing editor of Red Sky, and Debra Kaufman. With support of the North Carolina Arts Council and the partnering arts councils of the Regional Artist.
