Pints & Politics
Join in for a lively evening with lobbyists, Harold Brubaker & Dana Simpson.
Harold Brubaker was elected in 1977 and served through 2012 in the NC House of Representatives, as well as serving in numerous leadership positions in the legislature. In fact, he was the first and only Republican Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives in the 20th century. Brubaker resides in Asheboro, and operates his own governmental affairs consulting company, Brubaker & Associates Inc.
Dana Simpson, an Asheboro native, works for Smith Anderson Law Firm practicing in the areas of Government Relations and Administrative Law, and co-chairs the firm’s Government Relations practice. In 2012, Simpson was rated the number one “Most Influential” lobbyist in the General Assembly in a survey of legislators, lobbyists and the press conducted by the nonpartisan North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research. In the latest rankings, Brubaker was rated #1, and Simpson #2. Before law school, Simpson served as Special Assistant for Communications and Policy to the Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives. Yes, for Speaker Brubaker!
We will order a drink, enjoy some appetizers and pizza from The Flying Pig then get right into the discussion on the future projections from the past elections across the state and nation.
