City Councilwoman Katie Snuggs will talk about her experience during the Civil Rights era in Asheboro. Ms. Snuggs was a leader in integration struggles in Asheboro. She was arrested for participating in sit-ins at Hop’s BBQ Restaurant & the Little Castle Café in 1964. Ms. Snuggs, the first African American woman (& second African American) elected to Asheboro City Council, is retired from the Asheboro Water & Sewer Maintenance Department. She is a graduate of Central School & NC A&T State University.
